Upward is a program designed to give children, both boys and girls and their families, a positive sports experience by partnering with local churches to build character, self esteem, skill development and spiritual growth.
This is done by providing:
-Equal playing time for every player
-Separate leagues for boys and girls
-A one hour practice and game each week of the season
-An evaluation process to provide equal opportunity for improvement
-A devotion time during each practice

Upward is a national organization and you can learn more about them at their website, www.upward.org.

Learn More About Our Sports

Upward Basketball offers a break from the norm. The primary focus of Upward is to develop the Winner in EVERY child, not just a few. By keeping this goal in mind, we are able to build a league that promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem in all who participate through keeping sportsmanship and competitiveness in proper perspective by not maintaining league standings in any division and maximizing the family schedule by having only one hour of practice and one game each week.

Upward Seeks to Build Players and Their Families by…
Allowing for only one hour of practice and one hour game each week.
Using a designed rotation system to give all players equal playing time.
Training coaches and referees to teach and encourage, not to intimidate.
Not keeping score in younger leagues.
Not maintaining leagues standings in any division.
Exposing players to Scripture-based devotions each week and half-time devotions for spectators each week.
Seeking to incorporate participants and their families into the local church after the season is complete.

Each Player Receives:
-Reversible mesh jersey
-An Upward Basketball t-shirt
-Music CD
-Basketball magnet
-Award after each game and practice
-End of season award

Upward Cheerleading offers a break from the norm. The primary focus of Upward is to develop the Winner in EVERY child, not just a few. By keeping this goal in mind, all cheers performed will be used to encourage both teams on the court with positive uplifting chants, cheers, and routines. Also, no squad will have a specific team it cheers for each week. With these guidelines in place we are able to build a league that promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem in all who participate through keeping sportsmanship and competitiveness in proper perspective.

Our desire is to provide a positive sports experience for every child.

To do that we:
› Create a fun and competitive sports environment
› Teach Cheerleading fundamentals
› Teach life lessons from the Bible during practice huddles
› Have coaches who are focused on having fun, developing skills and building character

At your child’s first practice each cheerleader will receive:
Cheer top
Skort
Poms
Hair Ribbon
Megaphone
Car Magnet
